August.

EDUCATION.
On June 24 I spent four hours with 200 Cub Scouts and 40 adults as Cub Scout Day Camp in Thousand Oaks. The boys were broken up into small groups and enjoyed the talks on fossils and the opportunity to handle the large fossils.
On June 25 I gave a program on fossils to 20 children and 6 adults at the Avenue Library.
June 26th 75 children and 25 adults gathered for a talk on fossils and hands on examination of the specimens. This group was very excited about the program and asked questions for an hour.
July 8, I gave a talk on fossils to 20 children and 2 adults for Ventura Parks and Recreation Department Summer Program at Westpark. Children are always delighted to handle the specimens. I also had literature to hand out.
On July 17, Bruno Benson and I conducted a tour of the Earth Science Museum for a group of ten from Oak Grove School.
Wednesday, July 31, at Simi Valley Library I gave a talk on fossils to about 50 children and adults.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION.
Ray Meisenheimer gave a two hour program on fossils to Oxnard YMCA August 19. There were about 60 young people and 6 adults.
Kay Hara and Ray Meisenheimer spent considerable time demonstrating our hobby at the Fair. Many other members donated time in helping to set up at the Gem & Mineral building and with security during the Fair hours.
          Contributed by Florence Meisenheimer.

(Editor's Note - These types of things all help to promote our hobby in it's best light. Thanks!)
